THE HOTELS

Montesol Experimental Ibiza

Experimental Group – which is behind London’s Henrietta Hotel and Grand Pigalle Hôtel in Paris – continues its expansion with the reopening of Montesol Experimental in Ibiza’s historic Old Town. There are 30 light, bright rooms and three suites with playful art-deco interiors and bohemian-inspired furniture. You’ll also notice cosmic-inspired design details and Insta-worthy bathrooms. Guests can order tapas at Café Montesol (headed up by Spanish chef Alex Larrea) and relax at the rooftop cocktail bar which has great views of Dalt Vila. If you’re just visiting Old Town, pop into the downstairs restaurant for cocktails at the buzzy bar.

Mondrian Ibiza

Hospitality group Ennismore will open two properties this summer. First up is Mondrian Ibiza, which is set to arrive on the island’s east coast next month. Taking inspiration from its buzzy sister property in Shoreditch, this hotel will have more of a laid-back feel with minimalist interiors to blend into the island backdrop. Guests can stay in one of 154 rooms (most have sea views), lounge in two pools and choose from three restaurants, including a Japanese bar.

Hyde Ibiza

Ennismore’s second outpost on the White Isle will be the oceanfront Hyde Ibiza in Cala Llonga, overlooking one of the island’s most beautiful – and quiet – beaches. Also opening next month, this hotel offers the best of both world for guests who want to enjoy poolside DJ sets during the day then relax in one of its 401 rooms at night. There will be five restaurants and bars, each with a different concept – details are under wraps for now but we’re expecting good things…

7Pines Ibiza

7Pines is built into the cliffs on the island’s Es Vedrà-facing edge. Next month it will open two four-bedroom villas, both with glass-panelled pools, sun terraces and outdoor dining areas. Ideal for a special group or family trip, they have chic and minimalist décor, plus sea views. Guests will have access to a range of exclusive extras, including private chefs and a concierge service that can help book transportation, wellness classes and bespoke spa treatments. If you’re not staying, book a table at the hotel’s destination restaurant The View which has – you guessed it – one of the best vantage points on the island. Diners can enjoy elegant dishes while DJs set the vibe as the sun sets.

Six Senses

After opening its doors a couple of years ago, Six Senses has already cemented itself as a go-to spot thank to its stunning eco-friendly design and laid-back vibe. Offering excellent service and all the facilities you’d expect from a Six Senses property, it’s perched over beautiful Xarraca Bay. New this year is the RoseBar, a wellness club with a resident doctor and state-of-the-art tech like cryotherapy chambers, infrared saunas, cold plunge pools and biohacking tools. Also new, there are wellness retreats for weekend or week-long trips, plus fresh dining offerings like the Mediterranean restaurant North by chef Eyal Shani (Miznon), an Italian-inspired menu at The Orchard, and Spanish dishes at La Plaza.

Pikes

A favourite of the fashion set and mega-celebs over the decades (picture Kate Moss, Freddie Mercury and George Michael) Pikes is one of the oldest and most famous Ibizan institutions. The hotel has had a major refresh for summer – eight of the hotel's original bedrooms, bathrooms and outdoor spaces have been updated by interior designer Lucinda Swayne. Expect quirky and fun décor in each room, bespoke furniture, and plush bathrooms with gold metallic sinks and mid-century modern brass fittings. Pikes’ restaurant Pamelas has also had a glow-up – if you needed another reason to visit this season.

INNSiDE by Meliá Ibiza

For an affordable stay by San Antonio Bay INNSiDE by Meliá Ibiza is a great option – and it’s had a refresh for the summer. There are fun pops of colour throughout with cool artwork in every corner. Guests can stay in modern bedrooms with sea views and lounge by the hotel’s two pools. The rooftop pool feels particularly buzzy this season thanks to its new day-time sessions when DJs set the vibe with party tracks until 11pm. Over the summer, you can also expect live musicians and other entertainers, plus a DJ residency from Soho House regular James Haskell. An ideal spot for a fun girls’ trip.

THE RESTAURANTS

The Maine

Ibiza welcomed a string of top restaurants last year, and there are more newcomers to add to your list this summer. We’re most excited to hit The Maine which will open a new outpost next month, close to the salt flats of Salinas, just a short drive from Ibiza Town. Dine in the two-level al fresco restaurant within a restored 18th-century finca, then grab drinks at the bar which will have an array of tequilas and mezcals. Enjoy Mediterranean platters while DJs and live performers set the vibe.

Hämbre

Over in the centre of Santa Eulalia, Hämbre is a small restaurant worth the trip. Championing local and sustainable produce, it has 70s-inspired interiors, and the 12-plate menu changes every three days. Expect to try dishes like bonito crudo with padron peppers, fried razor clams with kohlrabi, and toasted cabbage with caesar dressing.

UM Beach House

The same group behind UM Beach House Mallorca has opened a new outpost in Santa Eulalia. This boho spot has seriously cool décor with wooden furniture, earthy colours and soft furnishings that blend into the background. Open for lunch and dinner, guests can choose from Mediterranean dishes while DJs play chilled house music, before the tempo picks up in the evening with drums and other acoustic instruments. Choose from grilled seafood platters, paella and tapas dishes alongside buddha bowls and generous salads. Order sangria for the table or enjoy a cocktail – we like the sound of the ‘Tulum’ made with tequila, grapefruit soda, lemon and tajín salt.

Yalla

Passion Café in Ibiza Town has opened a Middle Eastern restaurant in Santa Gertrudis. Each plate showcases the variety of produce found on and around the island – the ‘salatim’ menu has a selection of salads and mezze boards featuring falafel, zaatar halloumi and chargrilled aubergine, all drizzled with tahini. Meanwhile, seabass, lamb koftas, chicken shish tawooks and other meat and fish options are cooked over the grill. Don’t leave without a Turkish coffee and slice of baklava.

The Standard

Fronting the Vara de Rey plaza in Old Town, The Standard is set in a stark white building that forms the backdrop for the bright, eclectic décor and landscaping throughout the property. This year, there are several new food offerings including UP, the hotel’s rooftop bar and pool that’s now serving Mexican and Japanese fusion dishes like Asian-inspired tacos. Choose from temaki sushi platters, wagyu beef burgers and quesadillas.

Koba

Koba is another new spot in Santa Eulalia to have on your radar. Set right on the beach, there’s a laid-back vibe that’s perfect for long lunches or sunset dinners. Sit outdoors on bamboo furniture which is surrounded by tropical greenery to enjoy Mediterranean dishes with Japanese influences. Menu highlights include bao buns with chipotle mayo, salmon tartare with edamame and avocado, grilled octopus with sweet potato, and tomahawk steak. Each evening DJs play everything from 70s soul to Afrobeats mixed with Balearic classics.

THE PARTIES & EXPERIENCES

Akasha at Las Dalias

This year’s big new club opening is Akasha at Las Dalias to the north of the island. The 300-capacity venue is small but atmospheric with cool staging, a killer sound system and a central DJ booth. Guests can expect Boiler Room-style DJ sets and an opening party with Sven Väth on Thursday 1st June. There’s also a bar and restaurant, plus a rooftop smoking area with great views.

Ushuaïa & Hï Ibiza

Ibiza has an exciting roster of parties to look forward to this season. Highlights include a Calvin Harris residency at Ushuaïa with special guests like Sonny Fodera, HoneyLuv and Ben Hemsley. Tiësto will be here for a nine-week residency from Tuesday 4th July to Tuesday 29th August featuring two-hour extended sets. Over at Ushuaïa’s sister venue and nightclub Hï Ibiza – recently voted the best in the world – guest can expect performances from the likes of Eric Prydz, The Martinez Brothers, Black Coffee and David Guetta.

SamBoat

Fancy a boat trip? Rental platform SamBoat is the name to know. For day rentals or longer charters, it has hundreds of vessels to choose from. We recommend hiring a boat with a skipper to explore the crystal-clear waters away from the main island and visit nearby Formentera. Ask your skipper to stop at the best swimming spots and make a reservation for lunch – we like Chezz Gerdi, a buzzy spot for wine, tapas and paella. A great day trip for groups or couples.
