The Boho Choice

Battersea’s authentic Victorian town hall has a selection of spaces where couples can get married – from the light-filled Grand Hall which seats 600 to the more intimate Member’s Library for 40. The in-house caterers will also work with couples to create delicious welcome cocktails, canapés, and a seasonal wedding breakfast – plus, the on-site wedding team will guide you through all aspects of the day.

The Wow Venue

East Wintergarden in the city has one of the most spectacular settings for brides looking for a bit of wow factor. It can accommodate up to 1,000 guests and is licensed until at least 11pm (extensions are available). It also makes wedding planning easy: it works with a recommended list of wedding caterers (including halal and kosher options) and can either help you set up your own production equipment or set it up for you using its own. A wedding licence means on-site ceremonies are legally binding.

The Beautiful Restaurant

This much-loved restaurant in the heart of Clerkenwell is an idyllic spot for an intimate wedding reception – particularly if you’re planning to have your ceremony at the local town hall. The terrace is covered by a retractable roof – making it ideal for year-round dining – and seats up to 18 people. Inside, there are two smaller private dining rooms: the Garden Room can host up to eight guests, overlooking the open kitchen; while the Pasta Room is designed to look and feel like a traditional Italian home kitchen for up to ten guests. All rooms are decorated with flowers and foliage as well as candles to suit your table layout. Place cards and personalised menus can also be supplied, and in-built speakers enable guests to play their personal playlists. As for the food, there’s a choice of the chef’s menu, the feasting menu and a Truffle & Barolo tasting menu, with prices starting at £85 per person. The full restaurant is also available for hire on request.

The Natural Setting

The Garden Museum is on the southern bank of the Thames, opposite the Houses of Parliament. The traditional architecture makes it a unique choice – plus, the entire venue can be booked, or you can hire individual spaces such as the Nave with its soaring pillars and vaulted ceilings. Alternatively, host your day in the Dan Pearson garden, the contemporary Orangery or the pretty restaurant – which works with a list of carefully reviewed caterers to develop menus that focus on seasonal ingredients represented in the garden.

The Historic Building

Recently restored Old Sessions House is an 18th-century ex-courthouse on Clerkenwell Green which still retains many of its original features. It’s spread over three floors, with various rooms and spaces available to hire – even the rooftop terrace and pool area. Inside you’ll find plenty of interesting architectural details – the patina of aged stone and plasterwork is a reminder of the building’s long history.

Designed in French Renaissance style by the architect Thomas Cundy III, the building is the perfect backdrop for a wedding, and overlooks the gardens of Buckingham Palace. Numbers and prices are on an individual quote basis – and can change depending on whether you’re what the club call ‘a founding member’.
